Get My Spoon Management
ShareGet My Spoon Management was set up a little under a year ago by business partners and friends Matt Mooney and John Stokes. Described as a community of artists, bands and management, GMS management is already expanding their roster of talent. They feel there is definitely a need for their management company in Dublin because there is so much talent in the capital right now. They are open to anyone getting in contact to seek representation.
The two are very passionate about what they are doing. They are hardworking and believe in their acts that they represent but it must be easy to believe in what you are doing when you have talent like they already have on their books.
John and Matt invited Scruff Daddy to go see two of their acts performing for a taping of a Mixtape.ie podcast in the Think Tank in Temple Bar.
In only his second ever gig, 17 year old guitarist Dave Barrett from Clontarf has star quality written all over him. He has got real talent and he looks like a pop star too. The girls were certainly happy to see him up onstage. He captivated this audience with his covers of tracks by Kings of Leon, MGMT and Michael Jackson, with the confidence to put his own personality into these chart hits.
The room went silent and really took notice of a star in the making. His own songs that he has written stood right up against the covers he performed. He has agreat voice too. It was hard to believe a 17 year old could have this much soul. He could be the man to take the mantle from international superstar Damien Rice.

The other band playing on the day were The Lynchburg Mob. This is a band with real class and potential. Exciting and engaging to watch. This band has obviously put in the hours in rehearsal because they are really in sync with each other on stage. Also represented by GMS are Bojangled who were featured on Mixtape.ie a few months ago.
Having already played in mainstay Dublin venues like the late great Eamon Doran's and Whelan's, The Lynchburg Mob are gaining quite a following around the capital. By the time they came onstage in the Think Tank the place was rocking and the band knew how to keep it that way.
Get My Spoon Management are hands on when it comes to taking care of their acts. As Matt said it's work but it's not a bad way to spend a Sunday, enjoying some quality music in a great venue. Within a short space of time GMS has gained a core of quality acts and it will be exciting to see what these do in the future.
